Review: An exonomy TV that delivers excellent value. Highly recommended! - We switched to Tivo recently and the bedroom receiver needed an HDMI input. We had an ancient Sony flat screen that refused to die, but it didn't have HDMI. Thank God for Tivo! My wife said, ok pull the trigger. We ordered via desertcart Prime and four days later we got a soft knock on our door and found the Sony on our porch delivered by the UPS guy. Kudos desertcart! And that's to Alaska! The box was a very thin six inches, and the TV itself is very thin. When I took it out of the box, I noticed how sleek, elegant looking, and light it was. The speakers are built into the bottom edge, facing downward one on each side and the TV is thicker on the bottom edge to accommodate the speakers. The sound is very good for a TV of this thin profile and from the front the TV looks very sleek and modern. The screen is glossy but not very so it doesn't glare much. We have a larger Bravia and as it's big brother this one was an easy setup. You walk through English, time, etc. Right out of the box the picture was beautiful. The colors are bright but not too much saturation. The Tivo filled the whole screen with a beautiful picture, and I pushed up the sharpness control two notches and could see cracks in a marble column on a National Geographic show about Ancient Rome. I recommend you don't change the default settings before watching a little bit because the default settings are pretty good. I'm a little hard of hearing so I boosted the mids and high end in the built in equalizer in the control panel. In the main menu, there are comprehensive controls to change the color, the sound, the power profile to allow it to go into sleep, a function to add a USB drive to play slideshows or whatever media is on the USB. There are two HDMI ports and a coax but we only used one. There is an audio out to add a theater sound system. Sony has been doing this for a long time and they have it down to an art. I tried to like the Samsung, but I felt the picture didn't have that Sony look and quality to it. My God, on the close ups you can see the pores on an actor's face. That's a good picture.Flesh tones are true, sky, tree, and ocean colors look true. On the previous older Sony, Tivo projected a picture with black bars around the side, and if we tried to use Wide or Zoom, the perspectives would go off. Too wide-- people looked short and fat, or the Zoom made the picture blur and lose portions of the edge of the picture. The Sony correctly filled the screen and there were no more bars around the borders or distortion. Just a big beautiful properly rendered picture. I've been a Sony customer for years and their stuff just keeps getting better and more affordable. We have a Sony Blu-Ray player with wired Internet and we're able to watch desertcart Prime movies streaming with no problems. Setting up with the Tivo remote took all of two minutes. Sony is the most universal remote code in the industry. This isn't a high end TV, but it is truly a beautiful one for the price. Sony perfectly matched the quality of their standards with an affordable price point. I am very happy with this TV and will buy another Sony one day in the future when they offer more advanced features at the same price point.
Review: Good picture but non-uniform black level. - This is the first time (to my recollection) that I’ve submitted a product opinion to desertcart. At first glance, the Sony Bravia KDL32R420B LED TV seemed to be of similar quality as all the other Sony HDTVs I purchased. I have a 26-inch, a 40-inch and two 32-inch TVs. I purchased this one to replace a KDL-32EX308 (manufactured in 2010) that had developed a bad habit of taking several minutes to warm up (controls wouldn’t work for three or four minutes after power-on.), although it worked fine otherwise. With that exception, I’ve been quite happy with all of my previous Sony HDTVs. By the way, I also have a number of other Sony products, all of which are of fine quality. However, this one has an annoying defect. Black level is nonuniform, particularly at the top of the screen. I did a more thorough check of all my other Sony TVs and found no evidence of that problem. I tried making all the usual adjustments (black level, backlight, contrast, brightness, etc.) to see if I could tweak it out or at least minimize it, but had no luck (without worsening the picture quality). This particular TV is much thinner that any of my previous TVs, and it has a much narrower bezel (1/2-inch versus 2 inches). I can squeeze the bezel with my fingers and make the problem worse, but can’t improve it. That tells me that the LCD display is probably deposited on a some type of flexible substrate (plastic?) and can easily be bent. Furthermore, the fact that the bezel is so narrow implies that more of the outer edge of the display is visible and therefore any manufacturing defects at the edges are more visible than with the older TVs. Be that as it may, because of the fact that the problem I’ve described generally does not affect picture quality, I’ve decided that it’s more trouble than it’s worth to return this TV, so I’ll live with it. It’s just a little disappointing considering the number of good quality Sony products I’ve purchased in the past. By the way, I did go through the motions of searching the web for “Sony Bravia black level non-uniformity” and found a number of threads describing the same problem I have. I did not find any solutions other than that characteristic seems to be normal on the newer Sony Bravia TVs.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: does it have a headset mini jack?**
A: Most newer TV's do not have a headset jack. You would have to buy a cable/plug adapter to allow you to use your headphones. But that could get complicated. If you are considering purchasing this TV, I think you should call Sony first and ask them if you would be able to do that.

**Q: does this have a vga port**
A: no vga port... 3 hdmi and one optical port

**Q: please what is the package size?**
A: I no longer have the cardboard container that the TV was delivered in. But I recall that the "package" size was not much bigger than the TV itself. Therefore, I would venture to guess that it was about 32"W X 17"H X 4"D.

**Q: How is the motion blur on this 720p/60Hz, for football games or other sports? I've heard conflicting reports that 1080p/120Hz is needed.**
A: This unit has other motion blur technology options that work extremely well.
