The 20.5" x 21.5" American Eagle Fireback by J. ## Description

This fireback was created to commemorate the two-hundredth anniversary of the American Bald Eagles use on the Great Seal of the United States. One of the first castings of this fireback was sent to the White House as a gift and was accepted by President Ronald Reagan.Filled with symbolic references, the Bald Eagle is depicted holding a banner with the motto "BE LIBERTY THINE" in its right talon while in its left are arrows and an olive branch. Surrounding the Eagles head are thirteen stars with thirty-seven others in the background. Behind the Eagle is a sunburst with seven major and six minor rays piercing the clouds. Fireback by J. Del Conner. Cast Iron, Made by hand in the USA. Dimensions: 20 1/2" wide, 21 1/2" high, 47 pounds. First introduced in 1982.

Great quality item. It does help with heat radiation. Note: This is not in all cases a stand-alone fireback. You may need the iron "feet" for it to stand in your fireplace, depending on your other fireplace hardware. (Fire dogs, grate/grill, etc.) I did not, since my raised log grate was wider than the fireback.
