    Good goatskin head, true 8"

I have an old Mid-East Percussion Darbuka (Doumbek) that I've had trouble finding a head for.  I tried ordering synthetic heads listed as 8" from two other sellers, but both were significantly larger than 8" and would not work on my drum.  This head is a true 8" (measured on the inside, rim to rim) and fit perfectly.  It's made of thin goatskin (much thinner than a djembe goat skin), which is appropriate for this drum.  Like all natural heads the tuning will change based on temperature and humidity so you'll have to make slight adjustments with weather changes, but this is as expected.  The current seller (Great Music Products) communicated quickly and was very helpful.  The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is that the trimming of the head was a bit sloppy above the rim - there are several small sharp flaps of skin that can hurt the fingers if hit.  Once I carefully trim these back below the rim with an X-acto knife or single-edged razor blade the head will be great.  It sounds much better than the old original goatskin head ever did, with resonant Dums and sharp Teks and Slaps.  I'm a happy drummer once again.
