That rear rest bag is #13B. The Custom #13B Rabbit Ear Rear Bag is same as the #13A but 1" taller and has double thickness leather sidewalls. Bag Size: 3 3/4" Tall. If you are tall (long torso) this bag is just right for you. Either one can be further adjusted for height by putting it on a square piece of wood ... I glued sandpaper on both sides of my wood block to keep things from slipping. This is a top quality product and will last you a lifetime. You can't go wrong!

I don't know what kind of sand is in the bag. Bag works great for me.

is it realtively easy to adjust the amount of sand within this rest?

Adjusting the amount of sand is easy, a small funnel will make it quicker, but if you are adjusting than no need. FWIW - I have removed the sand from my Protektor bags and went with the heavy sand (Chromite - See article at Accurate shooter search site "Heavy Sand", almost double the weight). Replacing sand is another story, it takes time as you are pretty much watching the whole bag empty through a small opening (small funnel makes this much easier - BTW)
