Seems to work fine, though I wouldn't use it for precision work, i.e. only when there is at least several thousandths of stock to be removed. As others have said, it's heavily made: 346g or 12-1/8 oz. The V portion is 10.47mm / 0.412" thick. Straightedge is 2.24mm / 0.088" thick. Total thickness is 12.78mm / 0.503". Width across the outer flats of the V is 80.71mm / 3.178".It looks like you should be able to find the center of a circle a little under 4.5" diameter using this tool, keeping the faces of the V (not the tips) in contact with the circle.Some issues I noticed so far: The width of the arms, (measuring each from the inside V to the outside V) is different for each arm, one is 1.247" and the other is 1.255, so the outer V's virtual intersection (the actual point is ground off) can't be in line with that of the inner V. Something to keep- in mind. The outer and inner V faces seem to be parallel with each other, in case that matters. The tips of the V (if the V is upright) are ground off, that the flats are different sizes, one about 0.052" and the other 0.028". This probably means you can't set the tool on those faces and have the straightedge at right angles to the surface you set it on. Or if it is, then something else isn't square. Again, this tool wasn't purchased for precision work, so I'm not worried about it, and for the price it's great. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect. *by D***H on Reviewed in the United States on August 3, 2016* This was exactly the tool I needed for finding the precise center of the end of a piece of round stock. You hold the rod or dowel against the right-angled piece, and scribe a line along the straight edge on the stock. Rotate the stock, scribe a second line, and -- voila! -- where the lines cross is the exact center of the piece.Very well-made tool: solid stainless steel; the angled part is about 1/2" thick; straight edge is machined to nearly a razor's edge. The whole thing looks and feels solid and substantial. Great deal for the price (about $14, at this writing).This measuring tool takes all the guesswork out. Will work with stock up to about 3"-4" in diameter; I assume they make larger sizes of this tool for larger stock. Wish I'd found one years ago. I figure there are better sources for info on a product. I know what I'm buying before I buy it and usually don't take a stranger's word. I actually want to comment on this thing. I have Starret, Harbor Freight, and a couple of other supplier centering squares and this thing beats them all for ease of use. It's inexpensive and it works. The only problem I had with it was with the shipper. Some how one of the tips was bent slightly when I received it.
