I timed the test with my watch timer set to 30 seconds and found that every hourglass completed its mission in 30 seconds ± 2 seconds, which is amazing when you consider the price. My primary use for these is at hand washing points around the house (just 4) and for give-away and backup storage. The fact that they are 30-second in lieu of the recommended 20-secon period for hand washing is actually a benefit because it provides 10 extra seconds for turning on the tap, getting the liquid soap on the hands and getting the hands wet, so the washing is 20-seconds of actual soap and water washing vs. ancillary exercises around hand washing. These are uniformly made and sturdily built (considering their intended use as a toy).
