Review: Must have if you own a laser level! - This is very well made and exactly what is needed with the Dewalt Laser. It will shake for a bit if bumped but makes using the laser so much nicer. Great product.
Review: Problem Solved and Laser Goes Much Higher Now - After receiving the reshipment with all the pieces parts, I've tried this product out and it fits the need and works exceptionally well. The poles screw together (basically you put as many in as needed to get close to filling the height of where you are working) and the holding platform slips onto the poles and slides up and down relatively easily, until you tighten the holding screw (big plastic knob). The ratcheting extension on the bottom takes up most of the rest of the space and the spring-foot on the bottom does the rest. The platform has a bubble level to allow you to get the pole arbitrarily close to vertical, which helps (even with self-leveling instruments). The laser level attaches to the 1/4-inch screw on the platform, and the screw is turned with a large wheel knob that is easy to deal with. If there is remaining slack, that can be taken out with a nut on the bottom of the platform screw; hand-tightening seems sufficient. This now allows me to easily set the laser level much higher than the tripod would allow, so it's truly a winner. The poles go into the main part of the canvas case and the platform and the ceiling puck you screw into the top pole go into a pouch on the side of the case. Add some rose-colored glasses and you're good to go. (I haven't tried this unit on a popcorn ceiling yet, but the ceiling puck is fairly large so maybe it won't make the same impression a pole-lamp would.) ADDITIONAL INFO: I did try the unit on a popcorn ceiling and it seemed to have no bad effect. Also, it appears that the ratcheting extension I mentioned is a relatively new modification which actually makes setup quicker and surer, though the instructions included were for the older, twisting lock mechanism. Definitely a good way to get the laser higher easily.

### ⭐ Great concept, poor implementation
*by T***5 on November 21, 2015*

The only choices are the DeWalt and the Bosch. I bought this one first and returned it and got the Bosch. The concept for the DeWalt is actually pretty good but fails in it's present implementation. The rigid poles are a great idea and they are quite sturdy and well made. If you bought two kits, in theory you could use this with very high ceilings. The pole is the same size from locking mechanism which is about 8" from the foot all the way to the top which is very nice. There big problem with the DeWalt is the locking mechanism. You turn the poles about a quarter turn to lock it but it doesn't work 90% of the time. You think its locked only to find out its not. The locking issue is compounded with fact that the locking mechanism is on the bottom pole. There is a foot lever to compress the spring, and you turn the poles to lock it in place. To lock the poles, you compress the spring with one foot while trying to balance and keep most of your other weight on the other while at the same time bending all the way down at your waist and grabbing the poles in both hands and trying to twist. It doesn't sound easy and its not!! I was going to keep it but after about the fourth use, the locking mechanism would not unlock. I had to use a couple of pipe wrenches to unlock it and it didn't tighten very much after that so I sent it back. I bought the Bosch which is much easier to use because the locking mechanism is up near your chest and the spring is on the top of the pole. The spring at the top has a about 6" of travel so you can lock the poles and then press the top foot against the ceiling, push up and compress the spring and then move the bottom into position. (This isn't possible on the DeWalt because of the funky locking mechanism). The down side on the Bosch is that it made up of three telescoping poles, The bottom pole is the thickest, and top pole is the smallest which makes moving the pole attachment device tricky if you need to move the laser level to different heights when installing tiles. I like the Bosch because it works and it's cheaper.
