We purchased this for him to practice at home. He took the violin to his violin teacher at school and the teacher tuned it, made sure the strings were in proper placing and tightened accordingly. The teacher, who is an amazing violin player, gave this violin his approval as well. The case that holds the violin is sturdy and very protective for the violin. I hope that my grandson has several years of satisfaction and learning on this violin at home as he practices, until he reaches the need to go bigger. Very happy with the violin and the company who sent it. The company sent this violin in an outer protective cardboard box shaped the way of the violin and then it was sent in another outer box of protection.
