I came across this particular phin by Saigon Coffee Market on Amazon which has a slightly different design that I thought would be for the better so I decided to give it a try. This particular phin was by far ergonomically superior to my old phin. The primary issues I had with my old phin was that 1) the container was a burn hazard without the black plastic handles to hold onto 2) frequent clogging with the screw-down press apparatus. I was skeptical about the filtration capability of Saigon Coffee Market's phin at first without the screw-down press since it seemed logical for the coffee grounds to leak through the filter; however, after using it for the first time I was in awe at how efficient and fast it filtered my coffee with little-to-no coffee ground in my coffee. It might be a placebo effect, but I am certain my coffee has a stronger taste now, which is perfect for contrasting the sweet Vietnamese iced coffee.
