I tried the same method( took a kitchen bag) layed the fish in it to prevent scales from flying all over my kitchen . Some scales escaped before I really got the hang of it. It worked beautifully using this scaler and cleaned the two large fish in just a few minutes. The other scaler I tried did not work as well as this one. Glad I purchased it .
