Review: Bought for Full ATX Computer Tower Transport - This was my first purchase of a pelican case, and even through an desertcart warehouse deal were I expected less than brand new quality, but what I got was what I believe would be the equivalent of that. I purchased this to fit a full size computer tower (The Antec 1200) which is quite a large computer case and it more than fits within the pelican 1640. I haven't been able to test it out yet, but I believe if the layers of foam were arranged correctly it could fit a 27 inch monitor removed from its stand, with the stand tucked towards one of the sides as well as my mouse and keyboard where there is also additional space. The foam pads are high quality and easily modifiable to fit a wide variety of shapes and objects and adequately protect them from movement and shock, something crucial for sensitive components like those in computer electronics or camera equipment. The latches secure tightly and ensure the air tight water proof fit advertised in the product descriptions. Although a majority of the components are made of plastic they are very durable and through moderate manual attempts to dislodge them and their functionality as well as a drop, they held tight. This speaks to the quality of the entire case as it is of the same material. The rolling wheels and handle also make transportation and movement of this case incredibly easy. Without the, this case is massive and would be cumbersome with it's unfilled weight alone, and with contents stored inside of it, it would highly difficult to move alone, but the rolling wheels and handle completely alleviate this and make it an easy job for one person. Just to reiterate, this thing is still pretty massive and it makes storing the case when not in use a bit difficult, especially in a dorm setting. The reason for my purchase is to be able to transport my computer set up back and forth between college and home during breaks since I use it quite often for school work and personal use and don't have an alternative with the same capabilities. If you're in the market for a case that of high quality, and ensure the protection and security of your valuables this is a great bet. particularly for an abundance of items or single large items. Although the price seems a bit steep, the functionality and quality more than compensate for this.
Review: It's a Pelican - Are using these at work to protect sensitive radio equipment. What can I say, this is a Pelican case, and while expensive is worth every penny for protecting equipment that is much more expensive than the case. The outer shell is a solid polymer that is resistant to scuffs, dings, drops and general abuse. The "pick and pluck" foam is easy to use and creates that level of customization that gives provides for a wide variety of uses. I would like to have seen the smaller pick & pluck squares in this case, rather than the larger ones but that was really a minor aspect in my application.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A box to mail yourself in.
*by M***T on February 23, 2013*

Its very hard to tell by the pictures how big some of these pelican boxes really are. (Imagine a 5'11", 270 pound man sitting in this box and just fitting, barely.) This one is very large and bulky, not real heavy, say 40 lbs, but it works for the intended purpose of storing and transporting high dollar equipment. I got this one for $203 because it was a return. Why anyone returns these boxes is beyond me. These were designed to protect high dollar equipment from dirt, sand, water and those who are accident prone. I bought mine to protect two high dollar 18.4 and 17.3 inch gaming laptops, a large Epson workforce printer, cables and other expensive devices. Granted the pick and pluck foam isn't memory foam, but it does what its supposed to do and that is to hold expensive items in place and prevent shifting and jarring damage from occurring. This foam is a one time pick only, you can put it back in, but it will end up falling out all over when you go to remove the foam to remove your equipment. Your better off replacing the foam with new stuff rather then trying to glue or tape it back in. You can find replacement foam and other accessories on Amazon or Pelican website at a decent price, your likely to get a better price from Amazon as they have their own Pelican store. Best thing to try when your looking to invest in these kind of protective boxes is using a tape measure and doing simple length, width, height measurements from the technical specs using your bed or something. (Just pretend or something.) This will give you a better idea of how big some of these boxes really are. Remember, buy nice or buy twice!
