Voilà un excellent dictionnaire de sociologie, avec des définitions (la plupart du temps) claires et détaillées. De quoi en faire un bon compagnon de travail. Il est construit sur le même principe que celui, en français, édité par l'Encyclopédie Universalis, mais avec un nombre d'entrées plus important. Le fait qu'il soit en anglais m'a au départ fait hésiter, mais le vocabulaire employé est accessible. Finalement, le seul défaut de ce dictionnaire est la taille de la police de caractères utilisée. Je retire du coup une étoile, car si le fond est ce qui importe le plus, là-dessus les auteurs font le job, l'éditeur ne doit pas se moquer des lecteurs (small is somtimes more painful than beautiful).

This is an exciting, intellectually stimulating and comprehensive A-Z guide to sociology. There are over 2000 wide-ranging entries in this 4th edition(2014) including bioographies of the founding figures Marx, Weber & Durkheim as well as key modern sociologists Christine Delphy, Michael Mann & Dorothy Smith. John Scott's 'Dictionary of Sociology' explains complex ideas in an accessible and engaging way. It is highly recommended to sociology students and also the general reader wishing to gain some understanding of this fascinating subject.
