### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seems like switches like these that have wires for splicing into ...
*by B***. on April 28, 2017*

Seems like switches like these that have wires for splicing into are getting almost impossible to find. Nearly everywhere else I looked had the switches with holes that you're supposed to push the wires into and that's somehow supposed to securely hold the wires in place. The wires in the ceiling fan I need to put this into aren't that thick, and the wires popped right out of that type of switch when I put the light kit back up into place. Only one fan speed worked because two of the four wires popped out. This is the only type of switch that'll work, and Lowes, Home Depot, and Wal Mart didn't have it. Lowes had a three-wire switch, but I needed the four-wire one. So thank you, Zing Ear, for having the only type of switch that works.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Replacement Ceiling Fan Switch Experience
*by G***. on August 22, 2016*

When the chain on my ceiling fan pull switch broke off inside the switch I thought installing a replacement would be fairly straight forward. I knew the existing switch had push-in contacts but had difficulty removing the wires from the switch. I ended up cutting the wires which, in retrospect, was probably not a good idea. I got a replacement switch at a local hardware outlet but, since the existing cut wires had stranded ends, they were too flexible to be inserted into the push-in contacts. Further research indicated the wire ends needed to be “tinned” to be ridged enough to insert. I looked for a pre-wired 3 speed 4 wire ceiling fan switch and found the Zing Ear switch which would allow for connection using wire nuts. I documented the existing wires to the L-1-2-3 connections on the old switch and installed the Zing Ear switch with comparable connections. I only had high speed on one switch setting. I made several test leads using alligator clips and, assuming black-to-black would be the power connection (position L on the Zing Ear switch), was able to determine where existing wires needed to be connected to the appropriate 1-2-3 switch positions for an Off-High-Medium-Low sequence. I read several comments where folks took apart their old and new switches to determine the internal cam positions in order to identify where the existing wires should be attached. I found that by using the test leads I was able to quickly and simply install the Zing Ear switch to perform similar to the old switch. Lessons learned? I found that neither the wire colors nor the L-1-2-3 positions were reliable indicators when installing a new switch to replace the old. Also, the Zing Ear switch was a bit pricey. Warning: If you’re not comfortable using test leads to determine how your switch should be wired, PLEASE consult an electrician.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Took about 10 minutes to install and is still working fine a couple of months later
*by J***L on September 19, 2016*

My kid ripped out the last chain and after trying a cheap $7 fan speed control switch from home depot which didn't work I resorted to the more expensive Amazon option. This worked exactly as it should, especially as it had the 4 colored wires and plastic connectors (don't get anything with stab connectors, they're a pain to install). Took about 10 minutes to install and is still working fine a couple of months later.
