Their effects are usually cumulative and subtle. I began taking turmeric because I had read that it has powerful anti-cancer properties - and that turmeric by itself can not easily be absorbed, any supplement must include pepper. (This one does.) I trust this company in general, and the dosage seems to be in line with what is considered therapeutic. I love curry and I prefer to get turmeric in that way, but you can only eat so much curry! So I take one of these a day. I have been in remission for 10 1/2 years. I have no way of knowing which, if any, of my supplements have played a role in that, but all I can say is - I haven't suffered any side effects from this, and I'm feeling very healthy.
