HEA recommended *by S***E on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on July 14, 2017* Alien stories are one of my favorites. This one was really quite good, although I will need to read the others in the series to determine if the whole culture is one of D/s or just these few stories.Mira Janison, an engineer, was on a small space ship that was hit by space debris and crashed onto the planet of Pra'Kir. Pra'Kir does not yet have space travel ability and as their ship was destroyed the 5 women have no way to get home. We meet Mira in a jail cell, being mistreated by her huge jailers. Her fate is yet undecided: death, life in prison, or rehabilitation to the ways of Pra'Kir. The Council of Nine has decided that each of the 5 women will be sent to 'foster' and recondition to the ways of Pra'Kir.Mira is assigned to the home of one of the victims of the crash that left 3 children the wards of their twin uncles. Their uncles are sadly not equipped to handle three young girls.The men, Jakk, a judge and Gav'n a police commissioner are big brawny alpha males with strong DOMINANT personalities. They demand that Mira be submissive and respond with all sentences ending with 'Master'. Hmmpf! The first thing they do when they get her home is strip her. Then spank her. Her life seems to be one increasingly masochistic non-consensual series of spankings, whippings, cannings, and failings. They can do all that in the name of reconditioning her to their world, but she has to ask if she want to have sex with them. Makes me wonder about the future lives of the nieces, or is this something 'special' because she accidentally killed their sister.The eldest girl is a belligerent teen, the middle one has not spoken a word since her mother was killed. Only the littlest one accepts Mira readily after she reads her a bedtime story. Even the middle child listens raptly to the story while the eldest pretends not to listen.Mira's interaction with the children is one of the best parts of the story and brings it to life. The story with the brothers I found less enjoyable, but I will read the other stories and see if this is the way of their society or just the three of them. A well-written erotic story, worth your time to read. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting addition, but frustrating at times *by J***C on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on May 6, 2017* Like another reviewer, I'd probably give this a 3.5 overall. I liked the characters and the setting was interesting, but I found myself wishing that Gav'n and Jakk would have treated her better. Jakk grew angry at one point at how people at the market "Demoralized" Mira, but they did that from the start. Forcing her to be naked, allowing no underwear, forcing desire on her....those were all ways to demoralize someone. And not allowing her fresh air, punishing her for doing something that made their nieces happy, it just was frustrating. They seemed to truly care about Mira, and recognized that she was capable of so much more, but neither man really did anything about it. At one point, Jakk noticed that Mira is losing weight because she can only eat a few foods, but again, he does nothing about it!I'm getting a bit frustrated with how the women in this series - strong and brightest of the bright - capitulate so quickly! Within a day they're falling over themselves with desire and having sex with the men who hold them prisoner and hurt and demean them! I wish Mira would have been strong for longer, and I really wish she wouldn't have forgiven Gav'n so quickly at the end. The man truly betrayed and hurt her, but within an hour, she's falling all over him. I loved the girls - they were a great addition - and I did like seeing the men finally come around. Just wish it would have happened a bit sooner, and that we'd seen a bit more into the future - Mira seeing her friends again and being able to have a job and contribute to society. Hopefully that will come in a future installment.If you like this series, you'll enjoy this one. ### ⭐⭐ 2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed. I didn't think Renee Rose was capable of writing anything this bad. *by O***6 on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on May 10, 2017* I have every Renee Rose book Amazon has offered. I love them. I have re-read them repeatedly. (Betrothed is my favorite.) When I saw a new one on offer I was excited and bought it immediately, even though it was offered on Kindle unlimited and I could have read it for free. I wish I had. The guys in this book were so mean to her that it hurt my heart to read. There are no consequences for their actions. They continue to betray her right up to the end of the book. And she instantly forgives them probably because she has no choice. She never has a choice. The main character's response to her captors was so completely unrealistic as to be insulting. No strong American female brave enough to become an astronaut, mechanical engineer is capable of reacting to captivity in the way this character does. She was thrust into a BDSM nightmare with no safe word and a lot of punishments and Ms. Rose has her basically hanging all over the huge aliens and begging them for sex no matter how badly they treated her. Renee! Seriously! Get at least one toe in reality. The character is an American not some third world citizen who has been victimized all her life.There is no resolution to this girls situation. Her marriage will not be recognized by the authorities. She has no rights except what her captors give her and they make it very clear that they do not trust her right up to the end of the book. Any children they should produce would be in a legal limbo and we get no hint of any hope for this to change in the future. I can't call that an HEA.Folks, Renee can write so much better than this. Please don't judge the rest of her work off of this one dud.
