I'm giving this book five stars because it does a good job of telling Kurt's story from the author's perspective. The writing is easy to read (finished the book in 2 days) and it feels like the author is taking you along for the ride. The author is forthcoming about what are facts and what are his or other's perceptions.More than anything, this is the closest account of what Kurt's life was like during the rise to stardom, and what it was like for those who witnessed the gift and curse of his genius.I cried the last chapter. This should do it. With that said, I imagine it will take any Nirvana fan in a pandemic not more than two days to finish this book. With it, you leave with a realization that Kurt was lucky to have Danny in his life. Because unlike many who (speculatively) knew Kurt, Goldberg didn’t pepper his relationship with any taboo, and explains first hand how each major event in Kurt’s professional life came with an underlying, albeit optimistic sense of worry.Danny was a music manager managing a creative genius who was an inspiration to all of us. You will be glad he did. In fact, it makes you wish the guy also worked with Layne or Amy Winehouse because who knows what would happen if those two had at least ONE genuine major label “suit” in their professional lives.Having been fully exposed to this industry at one point in my life, I never knew someone like him could exist in the world of Kurt Cobain.
