Using a weight will help couple the record to the platter and therefore reduce vibrations. This could result in a cleaner sound with less distortion. It may help reduce wow and flutter. **Q: What are the Spindle bore dimensions? I.e depth, diameter. Ive seen people mentioning this can sit on the top on the spindle which is what i dont want** A: The spindle bore is 7.3mm and it’s 25mm deep. This stabiliser fits perfectly my Audio Technical turntable with a 7.1mm spindle. Very happy with this stabiliser as its main purpose is simply to make sure that the record is well against the platter’s mat. **Q: Is this suitable fir a technics sl1800 turntable** A: Hi, The AT618a should work with the SL-1800 turntable without issues. I recommend contacting Technics directly too to make certain, just to avoid any disappointment. I hope this helps. Kind regards, Matt from Audio-Technica UK **Q: Does the added weight of this device, shorten the life of a turntable motor?** A: Dont know for certain, but in my opinion ,probably not ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect for older vinyls *by M***S on 23 November 2025* Works great, especially with older vinyls. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very impressed *by M***S on 5 March 2023* I brought a pair of turntables in the mid 90s and most of my remaining 7" singles wouldn't play (dragging and speeding up).
