Review: Great games, Hate Steam - Yes these three games are great. Even though they were made years ago. What's not great is Valve's "Steam" program that slaves this box set. Get this; you can't play the games as stand alone games. You have to go through steam, which talks to it's server first, to even play them. The install was horrible too. I live in an area with substandard internet. Steam won't even install unless your computer is connected to the web. Before you can install the games Steam has to install itself and then update itself. When that's done you have to start over. Then if you don't have enough room for all the games (five, including all the different versions of Half Life) you have to make room because Steam only lets you choose which games to install after it's determined there's enough room for everything! Now, once you've cleared room for everything and only installed the games you want, you can play right? Wrong. Now Steam has to update the games before it lets you play. Kinda jacked up considering the games were totally playable before the updates came out.
