It's not sharp enough to damage whatever you're trying to hang, but if someone were to run into it at eye level, or anywhere for the matter, you could definitely hurt yourself, and bad. If you're thinking about hanging this at work, I'd ask if it's ok before purchasing. 4. It does not have a pointed end, so you can't physically use the star to screw into the wall, or in my case a cubicle wall (against the 2x4 studs). You will definitely need tools to install this because you have to pre-drill a hole that is exact, OR similar in size (smaller, and screw it in to make it fit nice and snug). If you use a bigger drill bit, you'll lose some grip and strength behind holding the objects hung on it up.
