I agree with other comments that sometimes the hands are hard to see against the face of the watch but this is a minor issue to me. More interestingly, after a week the compass suddenly would no longer point to north. I re-calibrated it and it returned to normal. I must have brought it close to a source of magnetism, but just to be safe I'm going to get the additional 4 year warranty for $5. Today the watch helped me drive, when at certain turns I wasn't sure which way to go I just hit the compass button and right away I knew which turn to take. Looks good! The compass is a bit hard to use (perhaps it is me and not the watch). I gave it four stars because of the band. The holes are oblong versus round, so making another hole would be more challenging.
