Solar Lamp

This was purchased as a night light and It worked out very well. Its about the size of my hands and is made of strong durable plastic. Its also a bit bulky and has a solar charger on the back. I have had this for about three weeks and its still going strong on one charge and precharg (this arrived already charged). Its supposed to last 4 hours (emits a super bright light that can illuminate a small/medium room with ease) and more if using the dimer. I use mine at night for and about a half hour or so. Its really a beautiful bright yellow that brightens and room and goes well with most decor. At night, when I need it- there is a easy to see glow in the dark button and comes with a lanyard to hang up any where for easy access. It came in a small box that included a brochure of how to use the little lamp and info on the use of the lamp in developing countries. This would make fantastic gift for a child, child at heart, camper or any one that needs a bit of light that's sustainable, something adorable and helps a brand that works for a good cause. Even though this is a bit pricey, I will be purchasing several as stocking stuffers for my nieces and nephews.

I absolutely love this product!! I was looking for a lamp for my toddler's room. I wanted smth that would be out of her reach, provide decent light, not take a lot of space and be safe. This is a perfect solution!!! This lamp is cordless since there is no need for electricity and doesn't need any installation. I put it on a wall hook and that's it. It is larger that it appears on a photo. It has a small button on a petal to turn it on/off. When the lamp was delivered, the battery was already "charged", so I could use it right away. It doesn't provide a lot of light (e.g. regular floor/desk lamp), but it's perfect for the nursery. It's brighter than a night light, my daughter can play in her room and I can comfortably read her books at bedtime. My daughter's room is rather small, so this lamp works great. It it were larger, I'd need 3-4 of these, I think.

I bought this after watching the "Abstract" documentary on Olafur Eliasson on Netflix. He was so compelling and the lamp is so simple, heartfelt, and socially/environmentally sound I couldn't resist immediately buying one. I gave it to my 9-year old daughter who loves to read with the lights out at bedtime. She had been using a tiny LED tea light, but it didn't give enough light to make me comfortable for her eyes. The Little Sun is perfect. It's easy for her to hold, and so bright she actually puts it on the dimmest setting to read with, which means that one solar charge lasts for weeks. If you turn it on its face, it also gives a nice glow to just get around in the dark with. We haven't taken it camping yet, but I'm definitely looking forward to taking it for a run in our tent! My daughter brought it with her on a recent trip and it didn't raise any eyebrows going through the TSA checkpoints. I just completely love this thing: the story; helping subsidize distribution so that 9-year olds without electricity can read after dark, too; and the superb functionality and efficiency. I just talked myself into buying another one. Enjoy!

There's nothing not to love about a cute, well-designed flower shaped solar lamp. I've used it on camping trips, to light up painting water, or just as a candle replacement at night, and even as an emergency light when my electricity went out. The whole "save africa with solar lamps" spiel is a little suspicious though. After Starbucks, Apple(Red), and Kony2012 I'm incredibly numb to any sort of greenwashing narratives about how my purchases support a more just world. Obviously I want more little suns to be available to people in developing economies, and I support that (hence buying like seven little suns lol), but... isn't Olafur Eliasson just marketing to naive boomer moms?

I like that this product helps us take advantage of solar energy. It works well for a 7-year old who likes some light at night. He needs to remember to turn it over each morning and place it on the window sill. Good education to bring about energy consciousness. The design is not the most aesthetic and would not appeal to adult use. I like that some of the proceeds go to a good cause but it still seems awfully expensive.

I love that by purchasing this little sun, it also buys one for a child who’s not as fortunate. So it’s worth the price. It couldn’t be easier to use and the light is very bright and stays lit for days without recharge. Recharge is easy too, just set it in the sun!! My daughter loves it and we use it all the time. Great for a night light or reading light and we use it on our camping trips. I’m going to buy more and toss out our flashlights that need expensive batteries! Great buy and I HIGHLY recommend. Thank you to the artist who created this, he is amazing.

These are the best thing I've purchased in the last ten years! Out of the box I thought the lanyard was hokey, but I was so wrong! I hang the light off the lock on the window to charge. In spring/summer that charge lasts all night (9 hours). Weak light in winter only gives about half the charge. The brightness on these is well, just like looking at the sun. I dim one and put it on my 5 yo boy's shelf and put a second one in the hallway at full brightness. Have done so every day since I got these (6 months-ish). I gave another as a gift to an 8 yo girl. It's happily used. Save yourself from using batteries. I wish I had 10 of these. I'd definitely buy again.
