    Brilliant commentary on the 21st Century

Michael DeForge is a brilliant cartoonist and illustrator. Over the years he has made many short comics compiled into anthologies such as the Lose series or A Western World. When not doing that he makes longer form stories such as the excellent Ant Colony. Here in Brat he returns to a long form comic that brilliantly satirises the modern world and how we see ourselves in this fast moving social media society. Brat concentrates on a lady who is essentially the most famous brat in the world. Her demonstrations and activism have given her world wide fame. No longer the younger self she used to be she still feels the pressure to do new things in defiance against “the man”. As she begins thinking up a new challenge, she also takes on a student she can mentor. What happens next I’ll leave up to you to find out. DeForge tells some really strange stories, but they always serve to show us the society we live in. Once you’ve read this, check out Ant Colony, you won’t be sorry.
