## Description

Golden Globe winner Jonathan Rhys Meyers stars in season one of Dracula, a sexy, twisted and provocative take on Bram Stoker's classic novel. Centuries after the Order of the Dragon cursed him with immortality and murdered his wife, Dracula (Rhys Meyers) arrives in Victorian London to wreak his revenge. Posing as an American industrialist who intends to bring modern science to England, Dracula sets out to destroy the sect, only to fall in love with a woman (Jessica De Gouw) who strongly resembles his dead wife, an obsession that threatens to thwart all his plans.Bonus Content:Disc 1 - Dracula Season 1: Deleted ScenesDisc 2 - Dracula Season 1: Deleted ScenesDisc 3 - Dracula Season 1: Deleted Scenes New Blood Creating the World of Dracula Dracula Rising Animated Series Van Helsing's Lost Tapes

Review: just when you thought Vampires were done to undeath..... - When is this DVD set coming out??? Pre-ordered in February, the anticipation is getting painful. I shouldn't think it would be a great production to slap a boxed set together of 10 episodes with some of the same 'behind the scenes' extras as shown on NBC. Come out with it please! Thank you! This series rose above anything Prime Time Network television has offered in the past. Unfortunately, with a 9:00 p.m. Friday evening time slot, who's home watching television? Well... that would be me. EVERY Friday, Nine PM sharp! And then again the next day On Demand. The episodes are so intricate, so lavish, so stunningly portrayed, the characters deep and charismatic. As is everything Jonathan Rhys-Myers puts his hand to, his performance re-invents an overdone character. The lollipop sucking millennial vampires are so weak and cliché! The black and white's generate spook and suspense. Dracula, the NBC series is lush, lavish, lusty, savage, ruthless, cunning, intelligent, unpredictable, and taunting beyond expectations. Very silly of NBC to plan one season only, and as someone said, this series definitely fits more comfortably on Pay television. There are no boundaries on subject matter and sex is a highly pervasive topic. The women are beautiful, the characters believable, and our beloved Dracula... we feel his pain, his terrible loneliness. Feeling sorry for a blood-thirsty vampire? Don't get me started... If television isn't wise enough to produce another season, at least give us re-runs of the first. It's been months since the episodes aired and I can't wait much longer to kill the lights, and binge on episode after episode, over and over again! Absolutely brilliant! Better drama than Game of Thrones, better suspense too. Deeper characters, more compelling plot, more satisfying pace... everything about it is better than the current Number One Television Show.... so where is it now?? Seriously!!!
Review: Should have had a longer run - Dracula was a show that aired on NBC (which ultimately led to its downfall) in 2013 and starred Johnathan Rhys Meyers as Dracula. The premise is that Dracula comes to London posing as an American Industrialist named Alexander Grayson to bring wireless electricity to the world. In reality, he is trying to bring down a group called The Order of the Dragon that cursed him with immortality and killed his wife. He is aided by Abraham Van Helsing whose family was also killed by the Order. While in London, Grayson falls in love with a woman named Mina Murry (played by Jessica De. Gouw whom most people will probably recognize from her appearances on the series Arrow), who also looks like his late wife. She is betrothed to Jonathan Harker, who is a journalist that Dracula employs to aid in his scheme to bring down the Order. The show only got a limited run of 13 episodes. It was hardly enough time to set everything up and really get people invested in the show. It is one of those shows that would have been a lot better off on the CW network and could have easily had a 5+ season run had it not had to pull major network level ratings. Much like the show Constantine, which was on NBC right around the same time, the dark nature of the show (as well as the sex) probably turned a lot of people off, and hence, the show did not get great ratings and was canceled midway through the first season. For those who get the DVD set, there are some extras, including deleted scenes, a couple of making-of and behind-the-scenes features, an animated series that shows some of what led up to what airs in the series, and Van Helsing's lost tapes which shows him conducting experiments on vampires. Overall, the show is very good, and most definitely deserved a longer run. The end of the season left a lot on the table (it does seem like the final episode was reworked a bit so the showrunners may have known ahead of time that the show was canceled) and had set the show to go in a potentially different direction. And, for fans of hers, it seems that Katie McGrath's character would have been expanded had the show continued. So, even if you like the show, it will leave you feeling incomplete because not everything is resolved by the end of the season. I do, however, think it is worth watching even if you will feel a bit cheated by not seeing a clear end to the storylines.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Dracula gets a modern update
*by M***S on April 29, 2025*

Really good show that had a refreshing take not the Dracula lore. Jonathan Rhys is great in the role so is Jessica DeGauw as Mina, Dracula's love interest. Although it is only one season, they close it off in a satisfactory way, I would've loved to see where they went with a second season, but these 10 episodes were good.
