Although the profile is low, I do turn over the top of the pouch to fold this in and protect it from accidentally getting caught. To open the vent, just squeeze on the tabs on the side. I suggest making sure you are NOT putting pressure on the bag right then to avoid any output being pushed into the hole of the vent. Otherwise, let out the pressure, recap the vent, spray a little deodorizer if (especially if you are out a public restroom), and off you go. I put tape over the usual carbon filter vent on the pouch now, and just use the Osto-EZ-Vent. Those filter vents are a joke anyway. Once they get any output on the inner surface they just smell all the time, and as a pressure release they just don't work fast enough. However, on two separate occasions, I managed to get the edge caught on something during the night and the vent lifted off of my bag causing a minor leak. **Q: Do you have larger vents?** A: The vent is only available in one size. I use a push in to poke a hole in ostomy bag, than after a few pokes, I use a large paper clip to completely open. If you do what is instructed, there is no issue to drain the air. It is a little difficult to close.
