I use this to place my 15" 2016 MacBook Pro on my desk next to a 27" monitor, so I can use both screens. The stand elevates the laptop to a comfortable viewing height and keeps it well ventilated, which is really important during extended video calls. (MS Teams can really get your CPU and fan working.)I don't think it would be good if I was not using an external keyboard and mouse. It elevates the laptop's keyboard and places it at an angle, so for me anyway I don't think that would be comfortable.
