When hooking up a dimmer do u wire it to the 24v side if u have a 24v dimmer switch?

Yes you would, it must be DC and your lights must be compatible with the dimmer you are using. LED's are very particular about the dimmers they will work with, and then they may not be fully compatible to give you a full smooth range without flicker.
