Customer Review: ‘LOVE the ‘who am I?’ Self help book, it poses really interesting insights and prompts that help me understand myself on a deeper level’

Review: Great book for getting to know yourself - at any age - I enjoyed doing the exercises in this book. My confidence was flagging but after this I remembered many things I'd done successfully yet forgotten. This tends to happen when your self esteem is flagging. I like all the books by Alain de Botton and keep re-reading them. They not only give insight they are very witty and down to earth. Thoroughly recommend this book and all the others too.
Review: I am what I am. - Who am I? Was the question that this book by was trying to help me answer. The book is a series of psychological exercises to develop self -understanding which was right up my street, but man it was intense. It covers every facet of life childhood, relationships, sex, other people, work, utopia, culture, sorrow and compassion and re-enchantment. Did it change me? Not exactly but , it helped me acknowledge certain things about myself and where those feelings and beliefs might come from. It hasn't made me want to change but just helped me to understand more deeply why I do some of the things I do, why I react to certain things and made me think about how shifting our perspective on things can help us respond in a different way. I absolutely loved filling it in even the bits that made me feel slightly uncomfortable, but it also made me realise none of us are perfect, we are all a work in progress. I found myself listening to Gloria Gaynor I am what I am a lot more.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Counselling in a book!
*by S***Y on 14 November 2024*

This book asks loads of probing questions to guide you through the process of trying to understand who you are and why. I’m still in the first section so it’s early days - it’s going to take a lot of time to work through all this. At first I felt like I wanted to tell someone what I was writing so I could get help! But then I remembered my diaries as a teenager and how much I enjoyed just writing down all the messy angry silly confused thoughts in my head and how much it helped to get them out. I’m hopeful this book will be helpful too 🤞
