The first one was about half the price of this one. I really needed the DVD player to play my Westlife DVDs and they are hard to find as they are an Irish boy band and their DVDs are mostly PAL and since they weren't sold in the U.S. they are usually from other regions. I had to search high and low for the DVDs to play them using the normal DVD players out there. This player is All Region Free Code Free Zone Multi-Region PAL/NTSC and now I can purchase any Westlife DVD and it plays just fine. I just put the DVD in and it plays no matter what kind it is. It's a very nice machine, good size screen, great picture, good sound, easy to use and I'm able to play my DVDs to and from work and then just plug it in at night so it's charged and ready for the next day. It does come with a lighter connection but I haven't had to use that yet. I recommend this unit to anyone especially those who need to play DVDs from other regions. That's why I gave it 5 stars. ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars Defective *by M***N on Reviewed in the United States on November 21, 2013* This unit operated properly for 2 1/2 hours, and then a "low battery" sign came on the screen. I plugged in the unit as per the instructions in the manual, and the screen immediately went blank. There is now no power to the unit. It cannot be recharged, and it does not operate when plugged in. I was extremely careful not to touch the laser or the immediate area. My power outlets are functioning perfectly. There is nothing to be done but to return the unit.I'd like to add that while the unit was functioning, I felt like I had to be very careful with it. I'm not sure I ever would have traveled with it for fear of breaking something. Furthermore, as others have noted, there is a small opening which exposes part of the machine's interior when the lid to the CD player is lifted; I can imagine how this would be a problem if one had small children in the house.Perhaps I just had bad luck this time and received a defective machine. I don't doubt the veracity of the other reviewers' claims, and I'm happy that they're satisfied with their purchase of this product. For some reason, though, this experience has prompted me to write my very first product review--as a kind of public service, I suppose. I hope you have better luck with this DVD player than I did. ### ⭐⭐ 2.0 out of 5 stars Stay away *by M***E on Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2015* Upon receiving this player...loved it. Loved that it played all regions of DVDs which broadened our use being that this was intended for traveling and we have several DVDs from Europe in which were difficult to watch except on particular laptop. As time wore on the DVD player has taken longer to load & play, longer for the battery to charge and due to the increase time in loading you receive less play/watch time. Now it's reduced to a just a small DVD player viewer in the guest room and not for it's intended purpose as the player has to be plugged in all times in order to work.
