The wiring in my car seems to work - 12 volts in one wire at all times - 12 volts in the second wire only when the radio is on - ground tests good. but this unit will only extend if both wires from the unit are connected to the 12 volts on all the time wire. It will go down if one of the wires from the unit is connected to the 12 volts on wire only. I put the unit up and left it up and disconnected all of the power wires so it works as a stationary antenna. But it absolutely does not work as expected.Metra was good enough to ship me a second antenna - cost me $12 to ship the first unit back to them - behavior of both units exactly the same. So my guess is that the unit is not compatible with the 1997 Mazda 626 electrical voltage or amperage in some way. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fits my 1991 BMW 325i *by H***T on October 6, 2014* Needed to replace the antennae of my 1991 BMW 325i.
