## Questions & Answers

**Q: is there a difference between the two black ink bottles ?**
A: Yeah - one is presumably regular black dye and the other is photoblack dye, since all bottles are labeled as DYE.

Neither of these are the deep black, archival, waterproof PIGMENT ink that is used in PGBK cartridges for printing crisp text with little feathering or bleedthrough. Pigment ink is slightly more expensive than dye. If you continuously use non-pigment ink in your PGBK cartridge you may or may not regret it later with your printhead (use the cleaning utility often when using suspect inks).

For Canon printers using PGI-250 or any PGI-XXX cartridges, the pigment black is for printing documents and the non-pigment black is for printing photos and one side of a duplex document print requiring black (for the printers with auto-duplex). It does this because the non-pigment dye dries faster than pigment ink, which matters if using standard print settings (not manually adjusting the drying time for duplex printing) since it will smear.

If you're supposed to have pigment in at least one of your cartridges then you need to buy a bottle of pigment ink elsewhere.

As far as I'm concerned, this is false advertising (for example saying this is compatible ink set for Canon Pixma MX922 or any Canon printer that uses a PGI-251 cartridge or any other pigment-specific cartridge). It fakes out the average consumer by presenting us with two different blacks since most people don't realize that there are three common types of blank inkjet ink (black dye ink, photoblack dye ink, pigment black ink).

People think they're getting the full set of 5 inks to fill Canon printers that take 5 different cartridges when in reality one of the blacks is a bait-n-switch for a cheap dye-based ink instead of pigment ink.

The photoblack should go into the "small" BK ink cartridge (the printer will pull ink from the smaller CLI-XXX cartridge for printing photos and duplex printing) and put the other black aside for when you run out of photoblack, then get a lone bottle of black pigment ink from ALLINKTONER or Stratitec or Precision Colors to put in your "big" PGBK cartridge.

**Q: Do i need to buy refillable ink cartridges? or can i refill canon's original ink cartridges. i bought the ink, but the description doesn't say.**
A: It's best if you purchase refillable cartridges. The chips on your original cartridges may lock out. Meaning that the printer won't print until you install "new" cartridges. Refillable one's reset when they are empty and you remove them to refill them.

**Q: How many cartridges does one set refil?. How long does the refil last? Meaning, hiw many pages can be printed after a refill**
A: It all depends on the size of your cartridge my cartridges are about 12-13 ml. Each refill bottle is 100 ml so I’m able to refill them about 7-8 times ber bottle. I have been filling my cartridges for over a year now and it roughly cost $2.00 to refill all cartridges, when a new set would cost $120. $65.00 for color and $55.00 for black. I print a lot and in my opinion it is well worth it to refill the cartridges. It prints about the same number as the original cartridges do.

**Q: Description indicates compatibility with canon pg-210 & cl-211. instruction that came with my product doesn’t include those two. should i use them?**
A: I have used this just fine with both the of those. I did have to get a small (1/16") drill bit to create holes for the pins to fit into, but it worked fine.

Whaaa- ha -ha!! I'm no longer a slave to ink sellers

This is a game changer. Watch a bunch of YouTube videos on how to do this and you will feel like Rocky Balboa dancing on the steps. It is AWESOME to fill your own ink cartridges and never have to plunk down an obcene amount of money for itty bitty ink cartridges. Even better deal than refilling at Costco. It makes you HAPPY. I can be messy, but use wax paper or wear gloves. Or, be like me and have proud ink stains for a day because "I refill my OWN dang ink, thank you very much!" (Get the 're-setter' as well so your printer readjusts itself to "seeing" the cartridge as full.)

Saves from having to sell a soul for more ink. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

*by Y***N on Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2023*

Best thing I've ever bought for my home/work studio. I own a basic printer, TS3322 Canon, to print everything from school work, home life and work life. This printer sees a lot of refills. Cartridges 245: $26.00. 246: $23.00. For value pack: $41.99. These are the prices usually paid to refill on a monthly basis. Prefilled cartridges from Canon and Walmart don't fill all the way and printer runs out quickly. I have refilled the black cartridge from the store and it has been way over 3 months before having to refill again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!PLEASE READ: You can use the prefilled cartridges. Color cartridge has 3 compartments. Red, Yellow and Blue. Black cartridge has one. Watch some videos. Learn where they are. Refill these compartments BEFORE the cartridge compartments dry out. Once dry, you'll have a challenge on your hands to be able to get them working right again.. if able to at all. After refilling, it is extremely important to reseal the holes made into the cartridges. This can be done with the stickers they came with. Be gentle with the stickers. Run bottom of cartridge where ink ejects across a clean cloth until ink runs well. If slightly clogged, clean slots with Isopropyl Alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and clean cloth.
