Perfect for my use
Purchased a Garmin Navigation for my husband in August 2023. Since that time I have been searching for an appropriate holder for his truck, he has a Toyota Land Cruiser. The cabin structure does not accommodate any of the general holders. I saw this one and took a chance it may fit. SURPRISE!! it fits perfectly. Very sturdy, height options and able to adjust to cup holder securely. Thank you Amazon.

Easy to install and works with various cup holder sizes
I bought this mount as a backup to the suction cup mount that I have on my windshield because sometimes the suction cup mount fails. It comes in handy a lot when I need to use something bigger than my cell phone, (such as a tablet or GPS). I have 2 different cup holder sizes in my car and it works in both. It’s easy to install and remove and it’s pretty durable. The mount works at various angles and the overall design is good. I’ve used several phone holders and this one has stood the test of time.

This alternative to a windshield mount for Garmin GPS is well designed, but...
...sometimes a well-designed device still has shortcomings. A recent article notes that is is illegal in 29 states to mount a GPS on one's windshield. In a number of additional states, it is legal only in certain areas of the windshield, and only if the GPS does not block the driver's view. An alternative is to use a device to mount the GPS on top of the dashboard, rather than on the windshield, though this is also illegal in some states, either because the device might still block one's view or because anything on the dashboard can become a dangerous flying object in a collision. This cup-holder mount for a Garmin GPS therefore struck me as an ideal solution, especially when traveling in a rental car, where one can't install any semi-permanent, and therefor safe and secure, mount on the dashboard. And this device is well-designed and well-built--It has the mounting "ball" that fits into the back of Garmin devices, an adjustable 8 inch extension arm to raise the GPS above the cup holder, and adjustable rubber fins to secure the cup holder in place. The arm allows one to adjust the position and angle of the GPS for better viewing. Garmin GPSs are easy to mount on the device (but others will not be, unless they use the same ball and socket connection) and the device is solid enough that it ought to remain secure and unwavering even on bumpy roads (but see below.) However, I found two issues when using this device in my Toyota Prius. First, although the device is designed to secure firmly in the cup holder, it does not do so in my car. This is because the Prius has fins inside the cup holder so that it can grip different sized drinks, and these fins prevent the GPS mount from fitting securely inside. As a result, I found the mounted GPS to be a little unstable, though still viewable under ordinary driving conditions. Of course, this issue may not occur in cars with a different cup holder design. But second, even with the 8-inch extension, the GPS sits far enough below the windshield that It may be dangerous to take one's eyes off the road to look at it. Using the mount would still be safer that just setting the GPS in the cup holder without the mount, or holding the GPS in one's lap. And since all the Garmin's I've had give directions out loud, one might not have to actually look at the GPS that often. Moreover, the distance one has to look away to see the GPS will be less for those who are shorter than I (I am 6'3") or who own cars with a higher center console than the Prius. Of course, neither of these issues is entirely the fault of the device manufacturer and they may not occur for everyone. Even with the shortcomings, I am likely to travel with this mount when I expect to be renting a car, as it could work quite well in some vehicles. It will fit in my carry-on when I fly somewhere on a trip, though it will take up about as much room as a small thermos. And it will alleviate my concerns about the legality of other kinds of GPS mounts in some states.

Works in Ford F350
Nice solid installation in the console cup holder of our 2016 F350. Holds the Garmin Nuvi at just the right angle.

Does not Work Well in All Cupholders
This is a great idea and does hold my Garmin with no problem. My issue is that my cupholder that I would put it in has a rubber lining to make the holder smaller. This wobbles a lot when inserted into the rubber lining. I took the rubber lining out and tried to put it in the cupholder, but found it difficult to make it fit because of the larger size. Also, once I did get it in there, It took me forever to try to get it out. I am not sure why. If you have cupholders in your vehicle that are like mine, I would not recommend this style. I bought a weighted GPS holder to sit on the dash which works well. The suctioned ones don't do well when it gets hot outside.

Sacrificing one cupholder for the GPS worth it
Best option for my preference of keeping the GPS display in easy reach, easy to see, and out of the way of sight lines through the window. Cupholder insert fit perfectly and snuggly in my rental car on a recent trip, and in my own car at home thanks to easy dial to adjust to size of cupholder. Frankly it looks more rigid than it proved to be. It was easy to adjust angle so I could see it from driver side or my passenger could move it to view and take over navigating. I definitely prefer a cup holder GPS mount over a window mount. Unobstructed view out window and no ring left from the suction cup on the window. Only downsides: a bit bulky if packing to travel (for use in rental car), and losing a holder for a second drink. Passenger had to use the door cup holder for her water bottle instead of the center console.

Loved everything about this. It's simple, sturdy & a perfect fit for my Garmin 50.

Absolutely perfect… Was looking for GPS holder from cup holder on dash as I didn’t want to compromise those next to seats or use one with suction cup that doesn’t stay in place when windshield is cold!!! It fits like a glove!!! Recommending!!!

The holder works better than I expected and let’s me keep the windscreen clear of clutter

I had thought the item would be much sturdier. I presumed that from the images posted on the web. The holder sank too deep into the cup holder and would need something inserted underneath it to bring it up to a workable height. I say workable height, because it has to be up to a certain height to be able to twist the ring which expands the bottom of the item to fit tightly into the cupholder. Even after eventually managing that, it still feels very wobbly and I think with an attached GPS it would wobble far too much to make the GPS readable.

This GPS stand works just as intended , but I noticed that mine has a bit of resistance as I twist the part to install it to spread its sides into the cup holder. I think the inner parts may be just a little too tight at some point and make it feel as if it's already set up but isn't really yet. Just be careful as you install this stand to make sure it's completely sturdy. When this is done you're set to go as far as your heart desires with a reliable copilot.
