I’m looking for 50 lbs compression to use on a cheese press.** A: I do not know the exact amount of pressure required to compress the spring but I do know that it isn’t 50 pounds. If the constant K is 1lb/inch compressing it 3" will cause it to resist the compression with 3lbs of force. This formula is basic engineering 101, is useful for a specified amount of compression or extension (yes, you can overdo it), and useful for both compression and extraction springs. So knowing this you can easily determine the K value for your customers. I am looking for a spring roughly 4" long, 1/2" inside diameter and a spring constant of 8oz/inch. **Q: I'm looking for springs to hang lightweight bouncing toys.
