Seems tight.** A: TWIST IT OFF ~ DO NOT SNAP IT OFF! I used a 'grip cloth' for opening jars and just TWISTED the filter cover to the LEFT; it came off easily. To put it back on securely repeat the steps, but TWIST it to the RIGHT. *There were no instructions and I considered 'snapping it off' as was suggested in one answer when I could not twist it off. DON'T = BREAKAGE!!! **Q: Can you adjust the heat independent of the speed? In other words keep heat high but speed low?** A: Yup. The heat (cold, warm, hot) and the speed (low, medium, high) are two separate settings/controls. In addition to the regular controls, there is a separate cool shot button you can press while using a hot setting that gives you a shot of cold air while you hold down the button (and when you release it, it goes back to hot). **Q: What is the wattage?** A: I live in Trinidad using 120 volt. But died today after 4 years and 2 months. I guess that’s probably a good life expectancy for a hairdryer that’s used every day 365 days out of the year and sometimes twice a day. It does have built-in trip switches, which I love because the dryer sparked and arced today enabling the switch to trip and the dryer to shut itself off! Better than catching my hair on fire!
