She was spending all of her time in bed, not really sleeping, but just looking exhausted, miserable and in pain. As she has normally been an extremely active little girl, we took her to the Vet., and received some very bad news. She had been suffering from arthritis, and a very widely-used and popular NSAID had been prescribed for that issue. Before that treatment began, her blood tests were run, and all was well. After a month or so on the drug, her liver numbers were dreadful, to the point of seeming hopeless.We were not prepared to give our little girl up, and began voracious reading programs on all things related to the canine liver, and its functions. The vet. memtioned Denemarin as a possible aid. From there we began putting our newly-gained knowledge to work. In addition to Denemarin, we added various forms of milk thistle, and this treatment, Denosyl.The Denemarin and Denosyl must be given on an empty stomach, so we awaken in the middle of the night to give her medications, and then repeat the process 12 hours later. There is quite a bit of good reading material available on canine liver failure in the Amazon reviews for the mostly milk thistle derived treatments. additional information is widely available online.We added a few other homeopathic mixtures that are added to her food, and also Marin. We noticed a change in our little girls behavior very rapidly. She began to show signs of a returning interest in life, and began to get out of bed in the morning to go downstairs for morning vitamins and supplements, a high-point in the lives of our foster dogs.The longer we keep her on the medications mentioned, the more she seems to come back to life again. She even began to jump up on her hind legs, and was seen running up and down the stairs, as well as returning to her bossy self as alpha head of the pack. I have never seen such a transformation in an amimal before , it seemed to be a modern miracle.We requested another liver test, and the results were quite startling, her liver numbers were improved by hundreds of points , and we have every reason to believe that as long as we continue this treatment, which includes Demosyl, her life will be extended, I wish to make the disclaimer that this history relates only to our dog, her situation and condition, and our non-vet. observations upon her behavior. There is no guarantee that the same results could be achieved for different dogs, in different situations. This is purely our story. But perhaps it will provide some help to someone else, and their beloved fur-kid. If so, then it was worth writing this story. But I am making no definite medical claims for any of the treatments that we have used. I put it in with her food when I feed her and she eats it right up, makes it so easy to give to her when she likes the taste.
