I ended up getting them for a super steep hike that I knew I would have trouble stabilizing on the way down and my knees had been having issues. If you are on the fence, BUY THEM. They are worth having even if you do one epic climb/hike and end up using them. It was SO much easier to make it up, but really saved my knees and legs going down from potential injury because they worked so well. The only time I would say none of this type of gear works is low elevations where the temp is well above freezing and you're starting to get melt out, then really, nothing works and you might slide a little but even these held up for a good amount of slush at some points. Easy system to get on and off for varied terrain! Compact and light to fit in a jacket pocket. Great traction. WAAAy better than something like Yaktrax. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Finally! Confidence on the ice *by D***S on Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2014* I walk two or three times a day which, in New England means dealing with changing snow conditions that can easily become ice and stay that way. My first pair of cleats were more like an old man's galoshes, easy to put on but on a crunchy trail, easy to come off, not fun when a downhill step can cause a hard tumble on ice crusted snow. I use them in town because of the easy off feature. The next pair had bottoms more like caltrop beads on stranded wire, ok for ice but easily clogged in a skiff of snow and the wire barely lasts me a winter. They stay on until the wire breaks but are so hard to get on that they squeeze my boots. I've worn out my second pair in two years.But now I have tap-dancing confidence up hill and down, on our glassy driveway and through the crusty snow. These won't come off unbeknownst, the spikes gouge nicely into the ice so I can walk or run with confidence and even go off trail, up hill, to track down the recalcitrant, overzealous guard dog. The cleats go on easily enough but sit on my boot in a way that will not come off accidentally.I bought small and there is plenty of room for my size 6 Sorels. I can, with effort stretch them on to my bigger Sorel Glaciers but I think a medium would be better for those. These so far seem great but I've only just got them. TIme will tell if these have any longevity. Still, they have an awesome, aggressive grip that will make my hikes in the hills, even at night with my headlamp, trouble-free. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Too hard to get on *by S***I on Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2022* I purchased these to replace a pair of Kahtoolas that had seen better days. The design on the new ones are different, the rubber material wrapping around much more of the foot of my hiking boot. I'm not a fan of this new design as the rubber is super tight and very hard to stretch onto the boot for a proper fit.
