MM-1s aren't like other computer speakers. They're true hi-fi speakers, shrunk to fit on your desktop. So they don't just look great - they sound amazing, transforming your computer into a superb hi-fi stereo sound system. But then you'd expect nothing less from the makers of the award-winning Zeppelin iPod speaker, not to mention some of the most advanced studio speakers in the world.

Review: Bowers & Wilkins MM-1 - I have had a Sony Sound System with separate Bass for years and was always pleased with it. Finally though, the amplifier quite and it is not fixable. So, i went off to find a new system that would work well with my MAC 5K. I looked and tried many systems, but was not happy with what I saw. Finally, I asked at Apple and they recommended this unit, of course at full retail. So, I instead went to desertcart and ordered it there. Here is what i found: 1. The system looks nice and is easy to setup. The only thing I did not like about the looks is the power brick! Where do you hid the darn thing? 2. The speaker cord that connects the two speakers together could stand to be a bit longer for a desktop installation. It allows about 5 feet, but if you are working with a newer desk design, that can be a little on the short side. 3. The USB cord is good and you can always get extensions or longer cables if you need it. An example would be if your desk is against a wall and you want to put the speakers up on shelves. In that case, the included USB might not be long enough, but again, it is easily extended. 4. Fit and Finish of the unit is superb!! The cables all enter the speakers on the bottom and there is a slot cut into the speaker for the cable to enter. The connectors are all on the bottom and hidden from view. The result is a very clean line!! 5. Great, now what about sound? Be prepared for an exceptional experience!!!!!! That being said, I would first caution you to find your equalizer on iTunes (if you are using a MAC) and make adjustments there for pre-amp and for acoustics that you like. Once you have done that, these speakers will be amazing! While configured to perform best a few feet in front of the speakers, they will also fill a very large room with incredible sound!!!! If you do not adjust the equalizer, you may not be pleased because you probably have the bass turned up high to compensate for the MAC speakers and that will give you very muddied sound. 6. The included remote is well designed and ergonomic for holding. I have read the complaints about the remote no a desktop, but it was NOT designed to be operated while it is on the desktop! It was designed to be held in your hand and used! As such the buttons are well placed and the unit is very comfortable. 7. The remote will advance the tracks on your play list, pause the music, restart the music, mute the sound, adjust sound levels, and turn the unit on or off. If you use the USB connection and then go in to your System Preferences and Select the MM-1 units, it will then use the MM-1 unit when it is powered on and the internal speakers when it is not powered on!! 8. Registering is accomplished by going online and entering in your serial number! So, use your phone to take a picture of the bottom of the main unit where the serial number and other information is at. That way you will always have it and do not need to pick-up the speaker to get the information. Also, if you cannot read the fine print, taking a picture allows you to easily expand the picture to be able to read it with ease!! 9. Buying from desertcart Warehouse is an incredible deal!! Getting more than $100 off is a VERY nice touch!! I purchased the unit that stated the box will be damaged and no other listing of problems. The units were perfect in every way and the damage to the box was the fact that it had been opened! I am VERY pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend it if you want incredible sound from your computer!!!!
Review: Sorry I waited so long to buy these - I almost never do reviews but there is so much conflicting information out there on these that I felt compelled to add my two cents to the mix. First and foremost the sound quality. It's why we buy them right? These sound great. Better than great. My first reaction was "Holy S***!!". I couldn't believe how great these sound. These are desktop speakers. I sit in the sweet spot. The sound is rich and the bass goes deep enough that I never feel it's lacking. The inner detail on recordings is exceptional. I am hearing things I don't hear on my big rig system. Now I guess if you buy these expecting to play them at head banger sound volumes you might be disappointed. I don't do that. Probably never will. At reasonable sound levels these sound great. I have a speaker system in the same room that was double the price but these are such a joy to listen to that I have been listening to these almost none stop since I got them. I am sorry I waited so long to pull the trigger on these. Next up is the concern about these hissing. I don't hear anything from these. I am 61 so okay my hearing is a little shot. But these are also in my office where there are two computers and a ethernet switch along with some NAS drives. In other words lots of fans from other devices. If these speakers are contributing noise I ain't hearing it. No concern there. Next up the remote. I don't use it. I am sitting three feet from the speakers. Why do I need a remote? I can do everything the remote can do with my keyboard except turn them off which I never do. The speakers will go into standby if I turn off the computer or put it to sleep. Good enough. Complaints? Just one. The DAC in this as far as I can tell can't do sample rates at 96Hz or 192Hz like the newer DACs. That was a bit of a disappointment but then again the sound quality is so good that it hardly seems to matter. They do sound best when seated in the sweet spot. Off axis listening is not as good as sitting in the middle. These look and sound great and get my highest recommendation for desktop speakers. A little spendy but worth every penny. Go get yourself a pair and enjoy the music.

**Q: do these come with dual voltage?  as in 110-240V?**
A: Yes, their power supply is just like those notebook power supplies - they are multivoltage. The cord is swapable, allowing you to change the type of plug according to your region.

**Q: I bought a refurbished MM-1 from Amazon. Speaker gets very hot after switching it o for awhile. Is it normal?**
A: That is a known "characteristic" of the MM-1.  Whether it is acceptable or affects long term performance is less clear.  Despite loving the sound, I returned my brand new set of MM-1 due to the heat in the top of the right speaker, which was always warm when powered on and HOT when in use.  I found it unacceptable in a new product designed to be on for long listening sessions.  Others have experienced less heat and don't see it as an issue.  Best of luck either way.

**Q: Hi everyone.  How is this speaker system strictly for PC gaming? Worth it, or is there better value to be had elsewhere?**
A: In my view, these speakers are overkill for gaming. They sound really impressive for such small (but of course not inexpensive) PC speakers. I am equally impressed with them for rock, jazz, and classical music. If my main purpose was gaming, I wouldn't choose these speakers. Am sure there are other less expensive alternatives that would do just fine.

**Q: When i updated my imac to the high sierra os, the computer stopped recognising my mm-1 speakers. can anyone advise how i can fix this?**
A: Make sure the speakers are turned on with the remote also reboot
