I'm Russian myself, my husband is learning Russian, as we were going through the book together, I found three mistranslations ( not typos!) in the vocabulary by the page 58. :-(And"Темный- brown" ( supposed to be коричневый)"Молодой человек- boy" ( supposed to be young man)This one is really bad.."Четвёртый этаж - third floor " ( and the reality is it is the Fourth floor 😳)Yep. Unless you have a Russian handy, this book might be slightly misleading in some areas. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I feel encouraged! *by I***. on Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2020* I'm only a beginnery-beginner; I know only a few very basic words and phrases, and have begun listening to Russian recordings more to start getting a sense of the sounds and cadences and inflections of the language than with any hope of actually comprehending what I'm hearing. And yet, in these stories, those few words and phrases I know, and variations upon them, keep coming up, over and over; it's very heartening and encouraging even to understand what little I am understanding. It makes me want to understand more - and if such desires are not key to learning, I don't know what is.I consider this little audiobook one of the best investments I've made yet in my Russian language education. =) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ my ability to read it in one go *by G***R on Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2019* While this is not a book for beginners, I was quite elated in that mostly I could read the various stories in one go. The book consists of rather different kind of stories. At the end of each story there is a synopsis, followed by multiple choice questions and some vocabulary. Most words are shown in such a way that you know where the stress is supposed to be, although I have to admit it is not very easy to see. At the end of the book there is still an alphabetical list of words and expressions and some words/expressions in the text are highlighted. In 1967 I took an intensive 3rd year summer course of Russian in Toronto, Canada. Of course, that was a long time ago. Since having a Kindle I have been reading bilingual fairy tales and other stories, some consisting of one paragraph in English followed by the paragraph in Russian. Some had longer stretches of text before the other language was shown, so for me this was the first time I could actually follow a whole story and then just check some of the vocabulary of which I might not have been quite sure.
