Raised Garden Bed Corner Post Kit.

I have been rebuilding 6 raised garden beds. I bought these for a single bed to try them out. I am impressed enough that I will use them on the other 5 beds. The install was a bit tricky as the bed already existed and the ground slopes rather steeply. This meant that i needed to move the existing dirt to the center of the bed and I needed to fully bury the lowest back set of corner posts. Once I was able to establish the lowest layer of posts and boards, the rest went very quickly. I purchase a second set for another bed and will be buying more for the other 4 beds after this growing season is over. I see no reason why that these posts will not last almost indefinitely and I do not expect them to require replacement every 3 to 4 years like I was experiencing with wood I was using. One down side is the upfront cost is a bit high but I expect to recoup that with not having to replace them anytime soon saving time and money.

In hindsight, the fact that this product appears to be completely discontinued should have raised warning flags. I purchased 2 boxes last year at a local hardware store, and finally got around to building out our raised bed this year. The plastic pieces seemed heavy duty, but I could see some strain on the corners after inserting two boards. I purchased a 3rd box from Amazon this week to extend the length of the garden, and one of the pieces snapped apart instantly. I thought it might still be salvageable if I used the two remaining corner bits on the piece, but then they snapped off too. In short, the raised bed looks good (save the one broken corner) but I have some pretty big doubts that it will survive the compost installation and a season of freezing and thawing. If the product looks too good to be true, it probably is.

I love this product. Will buy more next year. Stronger than the cedar corner pieces that came with my very expensive bed garden sets. Plan to purchase wooden slats and use more of these to make my own garden planters for hundreds of $ less than what the sets in the store sell for.
