It just keeps getting better and better.There were so many good episodes in season three that it's hard for me to pick the one I enjoyed the most. But here goes, for me it was episode 9 "Sarah". We as fans will learn so much from this episode and the mysteries that surround the Colorado kid, Sarah, Audrey, Nathan, and Duke. Emily Rose portrayal of the pretty red haired Sarah was a pleasure to watch, and an testament to her acting abilities. Nathan and Duke seemed to bond together even more in this episode than in others, as we learn more about Duke's trouble. Nathan as always is very supportive and protective of Sarah/Audrey. Don't miss Episode 9 as some important facts and potential questions are revealed at the end of the episode. DVD's played flawlessly. I like the stacking of the DVD's by two so that they were easy to take out and put back into the case. I particularly liked the promo played during the menu episode selection. That was awesome. There are the addition of a few new characters, and guest stars in season three. The two that I liked the most was Laura Vandervoot (episode 12 and 13),and Bree Williamson. Both played their parts very well. This is a nicely packaged set with episode reviews on inside cover, and audio commentary available on five of the episodes. Plus there are bonus features which are very enjoyable, especially the one on Episode 6 "Real Estate" Haven's Halloween episode. Also, there is a very nice little comic book included with the DVD's. Entitled, "After the Storm", think of it as episode 14. Needless to say to all the Haven fans, this is a truely unique story, a perfect mystery and blend of scifi, legand, myth, and mysticism. Once you're hooked on the story line, and the characters you'll want more, it's almost addictive, at least to me it is. Audrey, Nathan, and Duke make this show special. Who really is Audrey Parker? Why was she the chosen, or cursed one, to save Haven. Her search for her true identity is both intriguing and compelling. What of her past lives as Lucy, and Sarah. So many questions, as yet unanswered, but that's why we're fans. The very pretty and talented Emily Rose is a charmer and makes this an extra special must see show. She's the girl next door, that every guy would like to be with, and every girl would like to be. Haven has always been an odd mix of genres. A little twin peaks, a little X-files, and a little twilight zone, somehow equals one of the most fascinating and entertaining shows on TV. The first and second season, while heavy on action, were unfortunately light on answers. Haven is a show with many layers, and I am happy to say many of those layers are revealed in this fantastic season.Along with a plethora of answers, all of which are very, very satisfying, in this season, the show embraces its darker nature. A running storyline is following Haven's first serial killer. The mysterious villain is an old trope. Usually, the more light is shed on said villain, the less intimidating they become. It speaks to the talent of Haven's writers that the more light that is shined on this character, the deeper its shadow becomes. The more we learn, the darker and more depraved the character is revealed to be.The cases of the week are just as strong in this season, and the smattering on new characters are all very effective. For the sake of preserving the story, I won't name them, but I can promise that you will not feel the same way about them at the end of the season as you did when they are first introduced.The backbone of this show has always been the relationship between Audrey, Nathan, and Duke. Little has changed on that front, in fact their relationship's have only intensified. This, however, is where my only nitpicks on the season come in. Nathan has always been wary of Duke, but the extent to which he takes it can become silly, at times. It is tiring to see him constantly doubt this man that he has watched do the right thing, time and time again. While the shows writing remains rock solid overall, the dialogue falls short at times, coming off stilted. Worse yet, some characters make decisions solely because they will move the plot along, with logic never blemishing the process. Overall though, these are small issues that never get in the way of your enjoyment of the series.Haven is and continues to be one of the most unique, exciting, and darkly satisfying shows on TV. If you liked the previous seasons, you will love this one. If you were ever a fan on the X-Files or the Twilight Zone, you will love Haven. In fact, if you just like quality television, then Haven is the show for you. Another great season of an amazing show.
