I want to point out they are intended to only fasten one side. That side is rock solid, you could plane the hardest oak or maple without a quiver. HOWEVER, the other side trembles like an off balance washing machine. Do yourself a favor and order 2 sets. The stability you gain is totally worth it. You can still fold the bars and snap them on to the cross support. One rides above the bar, the other below.
