Once adjusted to the right fit it steadies the violin very well, making playing easy and comfortable with much reduced strain. I used both the position adjustment and height adjustment, on both ends to finally get a good fit and it then goes on and off very easily. The only complaint I have is that the position adjustment is done with a small bolt through one of the 3 position holes. The bolt is not easy to tighten and can get lost if it needs to be taken apart which is the case with my violin case as there is no big enough room for a fitted rest to be stored.
