The velcro overstrap can be adjusted to accommodate any weight of socks or just barefoot. The velcro is strong so you need to really pull to separate...but that also means they don't come apart when you don't want them to. The memory foam is nice but does mash down after about a week of constant use. Once you throw them in the wash and air dry in the sun the memory foam resets itself to almost new. I bought a second pair so one could be in the laundry while the other pair is on my feet. I put the to-be-washed slippers in a lingerie bag for the wash.
