And while you could use NTP to get your time, what if you are in an area where you can't?Here is the DS3231 RTC. It uses a CR2032 battery. It is I2C, and although it shows up on both 0X57 and 0X68, you don't need to address it using either number. Download the RTC library by Makuna.My demo is a NodeMCU, with the DS3231 and a 16x2 LCD. The times are not synced because I didn't use NTP. But you can see that it is keeping the correct time after I pull and reconect the power.You can use the DS3231 to timestamp events/triggers. You can use it as a calendar function. Very nice! Plug in a battery, set the time with a special sketch, and it just keeps perfect time after that! I've been running it for a bit over a week, and every time I power up the Arduino, the clock connects perfectly and just works. It is SO nice to have my Arduino know what time it is!
