Likely the best bolt cutter I've owned in my lifetime.
Bluntly put, up until last week I had not had much experience with bolt cutters and knew limited information about them as well. Knipex certainly is the the number one company to purchase mini bolt cutters that are 8 inches as well. Wow, these Knipex bolt cutters are terrific and are also 100% made in Germany as well. I've cut several types of screws with this and I even have cut a wide variety of metal with as well. Nothing too thick, but they did an exceptional job. I really like the fact that the cuts are even virtually every time. Provided though one uses these bolt cutters at an 90 degree angle precisely. Essentially you want to make the object your cutting as even as possible. Also what a difference a spring provides instead no spring attached. Not only has this provided a much easier time cutting multiple items repeatively, however this also provides better control in when cutting smaller items. Additionally, with a spring attachment there also in this case is a means of locking this tool when not in use and or for safety reasons as well. The handle is comfortable to use as well, even after extended usage as well. Should your grip be compromised, the handle ultillizes a non slip material as well. This is a fantastic mini bolt cutter and while this may cost more than your average mini bolt cutter, I am fairly certain this tool could easily last an exceptionally long time and Knipex has a life time warranty on most their tools as well. This tool is no exception to that warranty either. Overall, I do highly recommend this product and would and have already recommended this tool to anyone.

Good heavy wire cutter?
This product is more properly a heavy duty wire cutter rather than a bolt cutter. It cuts a ten penny common nail easily with 1 hand, and cuts a 16 penny nail with good pressure from two hands. (For comparison: I squeezed my bathroom scales and found that with both hands I can hold the scale at 150 lbs without bounce.) It cuts all types of insulated wire commonly used in houses easily and cleanly. I am unable to use it to cut cattle panel wire. The jaws open wide enough but it would not cut 1/4 inch round material unless it was exceptionally soft. This is a quality wire/nail cutter. It is a very handy size and comfortable to use. The lock mechanism is great. It serves well for most home/hobby wire cutting needs and will last most non-commercial users decades. If you need a wire cutter buy it. It is a good value.

SUPER QUALITY!
I have been looking at these Knipex bolt cutters for some time now but the price was always a bit high. I decided to purchase one and the first thing I noticed was the quality! The lock opens with just a slight flick of your thumb or index finger yet stays locked even while trying to shake it open. I have large hands and the comfort grip handles really gives you a solid feel. They are built like a tank with zero side movement and a great finish with no sharp edges. The cutting edges line up perfectly and boy do they cut! This is a tool that will last a lifetime with proper use and care. Now that I have them I would honestly say I would have payed much more for them. I highly recommend these bolt cutters to anyone that needs a tool like this.

Designed & engineered to make difficult work easy
The Knipex Cobolt Cutter "with the spring" is everything other reviewers have stated. I've used them fencing in outback Australia and have just ordered a pair of my own from Amazon. What hasn't been mentioned in other reviews is this. When you have to cut high tensile / thick gauge wire or something similar many, many times during the day, that's when your hand, wrist & elbow will be vulnerable to injury because this is very hard to keep doing. Sure, some blokes develop extra strength but over time, they eventually suffer pain caused by arthritis. Work of this kind will cause repetitive strain injuries (RSI) and it's very painful. Knipex Cobolt Cutters go a long way to preventing RSI and based on what my mate told me, the cutters are indestructible. They are very tough and he should know. He's a retired electrician with RSI in his right elbow (many years using a screw driver) and now runs a 30,000 acre cattle, sheep and grain producing station in outback Australia. if you want a pair of cutters that make cutting easy and will last longer than you, I highly recommend Knipex Cobolt Cutter and make sure you get the model with the spring!!

Great wire cutters
Okay, so these are a little more expensive than your average Home Depot wire cutter, but they are worth it. I do bonsai and we require a very specialized wire cutter for cutting wire off tree branches (its used to help train branches in to place) and not damage the bark. These wire cutters are excellent and recommended by an American bonsai master. I have my extremely pricey Japanese bonsai wire cutter (2-3 times the price of this one), and these are stronger, will cut even the heaviest gauge copper wire with little effort. They don't require nearly as much hand strength to cut heavy wire as the traditional model, or any other standard Western wire cutters I've used. Superbly engineered, and the shipping time from Germany was only about a week. Totally worth the investment.

Require quite a bit of effort for cutting fencing
I got these bolt cutters to keep in my back pocket while I am cutting fencing (which I use as tomato plant support cages). They are compact, and they have a spring which returns them to the open position after a cut. The mechanism to hold them closed while not in use seems particularly well thought-out. They do cut through my fencing, but only with quite a bit of effort, so I am going to use a larger bolt cutter for my fencing project. However, I will keep these on hand for smaller projects.

Outstanding Product For Trimming Cabinet Hardware
I bought the Knipex cutters to trim the bolts on about 50 cabinet knobs I was installing. I researched the various tools out there to make my life easier and found just the right one. For trimming cabinet bolts don't look any further, the nomenclature of the various models are confusing but these are what you want. Yes, they are over $50 but they are so far removed from the ubiquitous Chinese use once and throw away type of tool that $50 does not seem at all unreasonable, they are awesome. Honestly, these cutters would last a professional installer many years of daily use. For home use they should last pretty much forever. I have enough hand strength to cut cabinet hardware with 8" wire cutters or end cuts but it is not at all enjoyable, especially for the amount of knobs I needed to do. I am happy to report that the Knipex cutters will allow most anyone to cut thick wire and small bolts with ease. My wife gave it a try on some cabinet harware also and had no problem. This is the first Knipex product I have purchased but the quality of these cutters is so outstanding I will now seek out other Knipex tools when I need something special, or a tool to keep for the ages.

KNIPEX 71 12 200 CoBolt Compact Bolt Cutters
KNIPEX 71 12 200 CoBolt Compact Bolt Cutters I have very weak wrists and hands so cutting wire is hell for me. I get lightening pains up through my wrists and arms using my old normal wore cutters. These still take some pressure with the larger stiff, little more than I thought it would however they are amazing. No more pains up my arms. I can cut about 9 times the amount in one day than I used to with the normal wire cutters. Picture of the new and old cutters attached. I cut barbed wire and cattle fencing wires, also chicken wire (which is such a brease to cut with these). Well worth the money, I highly recommend them. Update: I have now been using these for 9 months, they all of a sudden became really really stiff, they were not springing back open on there own and I had to really pull them open and squash hard for them to close (the spring is perfectly fine). I tried pouring some chain saw oil over them which did not help at all. So I took them to a tool repair shop who sprayed them with a lubricant that had smaller particles (chain saw oil is too thick and heavy to penetrate into the tiny gaps). When your cutting a lot of wire it creates a miniscule metal dust (like a powder) that gets stuck in the moving parts and causes it to jam. They recommended that I use WD40 to spray on it each time I use it to clean out the hinges. It is now as good as new, working perfectly again. So keep them clean and lubricated :) If this review has been informative for you could you please give me a helpful vote below : ) Cheers
