L'Equip Filter Pro Food Dehydrator
This is a dandy dehydrator. For the price it has many features I liked. I liked the timer, the temperature control, and the sturdy construction. I like that you can add shelves up to 20 and make good use of the vertical space. I researched for quite awhile before I purchased it. It does a good job and is nice looking. That being said, I would have preferred to have the shelves slide out from the front with a door, for easier access. This one you have to dismantle every time to load and unload. Because it loads in layers and the air/heat comes up from the bottom, all the bits from the shelves falls into the base unit requiring care and cleaning which isn't easy since the raised portion in the middle of the base unit and the construction of it is difficult to clean with a sponge or other means to get those bits up. As a result I've tried a couple of solutions to make it easier and not been able to find one. It would have been nice to have some kind of lifting plastic tray to clean out not attached to the base. It does a good even job of dehydrating and I've had it in constant use since purchase. If you don't mind the above inconveniences, it's a good unit and I have recommended it to others.

This is a great dehydrator
I have been dehydrating for many years and have used 3 types of machines, this one being my favorite of all. It does a great job in every way. Sadly, my old one recently died after about 10 years of heavy use. It was the L'Equip without the timer. I never had a single problem with it in all of those years. I upgraded to this model. To show how much I love this machine, I bought a second one, like my old model, to use as a back-up for the times that I have an abundance of drying to do. One of the dehydrators that I also have is the Styx. I do not like this type at all. You have to constantly rearrange the food as the items in the back next to the fan dry much faster. While you are rearranging, the food falls off of the trays when you try to pull them out. This is not a problem with the L'Quip. The trays have a nice lip around them instead of the flat trays that come with the other models of dehydrators. This model is ultra quiet and I love the timer. Yes, sometimes you do have to rearrange the trays, but I have not used a dehydrator that you don't have to rearrange at times. That is just part of the process, at least you don't have to worry about your food falling all over the floor while you are doing it. I highly recommend this machine above all of the rest.

So far so good!
This is my first dehydrator and I love it already. I have been wanting a dehydrator ever since I became a vegan but finally made the plunge into purchasing one because we got a dog and she eats sweet potato chews. At the pet store a bag the equivalent of one medium sized sweet potato runs $9-13 for plain old dehydrated potatoes. Well at the grocery store a sweet potato of equal size is under $2. We just finished our first batch of potatoes and for the amount of money we spent (not sure of the energy costs yet) we just made 5 bags worth for $7. Plus we dehydrated a few apples while we were at it so now the dog has treats and so do we! I was really happy at how quiet the system is. It sounds like our son's bathroom fan is on in the distance not a machine working right next to the living room (his bathroom is a hallway and a room away). The system was easy to set up and operate without even looking at the owners manual. I eventually did but that was after already using it for 2 hours. The book helped me make some temperature adjustments which helped a lot. I cannot believe how excited my husband is over this purchase too; especially since it takes up valuable counter space in our next to non-existent kitchen (we live in a single floor apartment) He has all sorts of plans so he tells me (most of which he says involves meat and fish - I am sure he knows that is not happening!) but making some flax crackers is in the near future. I just need to dehydrate some tomatoes first to make tomato powder. I only gave this 4 stars though because I really wanted a back fan model not a bottom or top fan. This model is quiet and inexpensive which is a huge plus though so I will survive the inconvenience of not being able to make some of the wrappers and things I wanted to (at least in the sizes I had hoped). The dehydrator came with 2 fruit leather BPA free trays 4 yogurt cups and lids plus mesh covers for all of the trays to prevent things from slipping through the trays. 2 of the trays are marginally larger than the rest of the trays (about 1/2-3/4 inch larger)

Fool proof design for beginners
Great "fool proof" design. I could jump right in without even reading the instruction book. I also like the liners. Instead of having to scrape the food out with a spatula/turner, I can peel the liner out part way, bend it a bit and off pops the food. The stackable trays are easy to work with. I find the fan to be quieter than my desktop fan/heater but noisier than my computer. The fan is on the bottom but covered with solid plastic so everything wipes clean very easily. I've never had a dehydrator with a fan on the top or side so I cannot offer a comparison. However, I can share that I've never had to rotate my trays to get everything to dehydrate. But then again, I usually let it all run for about 24 hours. I did notice that a couple of my liners have a minor yellow tinge from dehydrating mangos.

Bought a second one!
Purchased about a month ago and have been using everyday since it arrived. It is packaged with everything needed to start dehydrating. The mesh screens work well, preventing small pieces from falling though the trays and they are easy to clean. The rectangular trays provide plenty of capacity on each tray. Itโs hot and dry in the part of the country I live in and to avoid heating up the house Iโm using the unit in the garage. Its quiet and Iโd have no trouble running it indoors in the winter. Iโve dried a large variety of fruits and vegetables and the dehydrator performs well, so much so that I purchased a second one.

One of my best purchases in years!
Love this dehydrator. It is one of my best purchases in years! I was able to buy a refurbished unit on Amazon sold by the maker and it looked brand new with all parts and accessories included. These units come with a 10 year warranty on the motor and electronics. So far it has worked flawlessly and fast. At first I thought maybe the temp was running high since it was much faster than my round dehydrator, but I checked it with a thermometer and it was at the correct temp. It stays on my kitchen counter since it is not an eye sore and has a nice footprint but can dehydrate a lot. For example I just dehydrated 5-6 lbs of frozen green beans in 8 hours. This unit is nice since it includes a mesh screen for each tray. The yogurt maker aspect works great. I purchased a Bulgarian yougurt starter from eBay that is heriloom so it can be used over and over. The yogurt only takes 4 hours to make. Very pleased with this purchase works 10x better than my round unit in IMO.

Magic Aire II compatible
Works fine. I like the timer capability. My 1970s Magic Aire II is a simple on or off. The trays are deeper than my older one and that is nice. Most important to me was compatibility with my old trays and they fit perfectly together. I am sure the ability to change temperature will improve our dehydration quality once I learn what optimum settings to use.

Service - What A Joke!
I received the L Equip FilterPro Food Dehydrator on July 3. The weekend of the 4th I started drying some apples. Everything ok. A few days later started drying $25.00 worth of apricots. About 11 hours after starting, the unit turned off and would not restart. Called the 800 warranty number and had to leave a message. No return call. Since I am about 20 miles from the importer in North Salt Lake, Utah (the unit is made in Korea)I called their 801 regular number. Was greeted by a "Good Morning, service department" individual. I explained the problem and asked if I could just bring the defective unit in and have it repaired. "we don't repair defective units" was the response. He was willing to send me a new unit! Only problem was he would not have any in for THREE TO FOUR WEEKS! I replied that maybe I should return the defective unit to Amazon and order a competitive brand. He replied "That's probably a good idea"! Buyer beware if you are concerned about timely warranty repairs.

I'm very satisfied.
It's really great. It does a considerable amount of food rather evenly. You do have to shift some things around for large jobs, but less than with cheaper models. The yogurt and fruit leather extras also work well. I highly recommend this dehydrator for those looking for an upper-end machine without shelling out two or three times as much for the big names. Basically this device is on the lower side of the hard-core/professional range (as opposed to the top end of the cheaper dehydrators). Why not five stars? Little things, I suppose. The temp is in farenheit, it's a bit ugly and you do have to watch drips and bits going into the fan. I did a bushel of apples in the autumn in a few loads and tonnes of camping meals. I'm very satisfied.
