'Add" button had no effect, would not enter 'add' mode. Nor did that button (held) for a factory reset. Possible button itself faulty. Unable to test unit functionality. No further support or troubleshooting available. Will probably re-order and try again.ELI5 the unit works by 'pinging' an internet address (e.g. 8.8.8.8) outside of you local network (LAN), out in the wider internet, that should always be there (e.g. Google): if this unit cannot 'ping' it (i.e. just check it is reachable) then chances are your local link to the wider internet is down and cycling the power outlet on this unit may solve this, so long as you set up for your local network router/cable modem/dishwasher devices (or their power strip) to be powered from the unit's outlet. It is the equivalent of "can't reach google! ok power everything on and off again, see if that works"The latest firmware permit you to choose what external site(s) to ping earlier was a fixed internet address in Taiwan(?) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Don't hesitate! I am absolutely THRILLED with the ezOutlet. I own a property 6 hours away that is completely automated. A symptom of the bigger issue is most likely that my router needs replacing due to about a once a month lock up….which either requires an unplanned trip there,or hiring a concierge service ($80 per visit) to restart a device that takes maybe 15 seconds. Even if I do replace the router, I haven’t owned one yet that doesn’t need a reboot occasionally so I figure it’s a good investment regardless. I had researched remote management capable wireless routers, but the cost and security issues seemed onerous. The unit paid for itself the minute I plugged it in. I was up in running in less than 20 minutes, including the Iphone app download and a firmware update for the unit itself. The unit worked set in automode with a simulated internet outage, it also gives you the option to manually power cycle at your convenience. I am curious if the app will notify me in the event of an automatic reboot. Changed phones again recently but didn't even bother to configure the app - this thing just runs and does exactly what it says it does. I haven't bothered changing any configuration since I first put it in place. My 5 stars stand solid on this review.The only advise I would provide the manufacturer is to lower the price to about $50 - I would've bought 2 of these gadgets if it didn't cost nearly $80. Or at least provide discounts when purchasing more than one.pretty easy to use and setup. i have a router that requires a "drop-kick" every couple of days. this little gadget recycles the power when it can't reach the internet via my router. plugged it in and setup it up on friday... made a few adjustments over the weekend and has been working like a charm since. I haven't lost internet connectivity due to a router needing to be rebooted. This piece of gem does that for me.
