If you don’t have one, I would suggest finding a nut of some sort that fits the diameter of your button. I found a plastic part from my sewing machine that is sturdier than the blue cap they give you, but it works as well. Then I would put it under the leg of your chair or couch and give it enough pressure to fit snuggly but not bend the metal. Another tip, if you use a thicker material than wet it first. This helps not only to make the fabric less stiff but also makes a suction sound when you press it that lets you know it’s good to go. Also hard to take apart again if you do it correctly, no glue necessary. *Cannot be used with leather.
