I measured their legs to make sure I bought the right size and expected them to fit tightly. They don't fit tight as the measurements from their site said they would. I bought this small pair for my wife, as she also has a "Granny Hip", but I own the XXLs for my very own "Granny Hip" from years of powerlifting.These are pliable, but not to the point of feeling like a stretchy wetsuit bottom, and they are vastly different than the typical nylon and lycra compression shorts widely worn by joggers, etc. The material itself isn't overly thick, which is nice if you plan on wearing these for a long workout session.I find these shorts very comfortable thanks to the soft lining on the inside. In addition to feeling good, the material does a great job absorbing perspiration and breathing, so you won't have to deal with sweat running down your legs. Also, unlike standard compression shorts, while these ventilate fairly well, you won't freeze once the sweat comes to the surface, so these are ideal for outside running/cycling/walking, etc.I do not wear these during my squat or deadlift workouts, as my big butt would probably damage them. However, they are perfect for my workouts on the non-lower body days, allowing my sore hip to really warm up, thus eliminating the tiny, nagging pain left over from leg day.My wife isn't a weightlifter, but she is active, and also likes to garden. She'll wear these to her step classes and other workouts, and also wears them when she gardens, as she does a lot of bending, which can aggravate her hip.As you can see, I really like these shorts, and am a fan of Thermoskin products. I bought my wife a Thermoskin back support for Christmas, which she really likes, and attributes to eliminating a lot of pain in her lower back. I bought the double shoulder support that really helped me through a painful shoulder impingement, keeping my shoulders warm during my workouts. Of course, it looks like I'm wearing body armor under my shirts, but who cares if it helps with the pain, right?Thermoskin has excellent customer service, and I'm very happy with their products.
