I mentioned to Fast Brewing that they should show a picture of this adapter on the conical. The small end of the bigger piece screws on the conical port. Small mouth Mason jar or the hose adapter shown screws into the adapter. The seal seemed a bit small so I put it in hot water before I could get to fit in the recess in the adapter. It seals well now. Found even some glass spaghetti sauce jars will fit. **Q: Does this replace the collection ball and connect directly to the conical flask?** A: It replaces the collection ball and allows you to use a mason jar as a collection jar. It allows you to see what is getting collected. I like mine and use it on both my 7.9 gal conical and am getting one for my 14 gal conical. **Q: The adapter I received is leaking like a sieve. Does the gasket go right next to the jar rim?** A: Need full size gasket , silicon mason jar lid will work. Cut hole in center for drainage.
