## Overview

The AEMC 607 True RMS Power Clamp-Meter is a cutting-edge digital tool designed for professionals, capable of measuring AC up to 2,000A and DC up to 3,000A. With a 60mm jaw opening, it allows for non-intrusive current measurement, while its built-in wireless adapter and accompanying software facilitate seamless data analysis and reporting. Rated for CAT IV installations up to 1,000V, this meter meets stringent safety standards, making it an essential device for any electrical engineer or technician.

## Description

The AEMC 607 digital clamp-meter is a true RMS sensing, auto-ranging multimeter for measuring current, voltage, frequency, resistance, and power in electrical testing applications. It has a clamp that measures AC (alternating current) to 2,000A (amperes) and DC (direct current) to 3,000A. The clamp has two jaws that can close around an electrical conductor up to 60mm (2.36 inches) in diameter to measure current without touching or interrupting the circuit. A set of test leads is included for measuring AC and DC voltage to 1,000V, frequency to 20kHz (kilohertz), and resistance to 100kΩ (kilohms). Frequency can also be measured with the clamp. The test leads are silicone-insulated for flexibility and resistance to heat and cold. For power monitoring and analysis, the meter measures THD (total harmonic distortion) which can degrade the quality of the power being supplied by the system, analyzes individual harmonics to the 25th order, calculates power factor to determine how efficiently an installation uses power, and measures single- and three phase real power to 3,000kW (kilowatts), reactive power to 3,000 kilovar (kilovolt-ampere reactive), and apparent power to 3,000kVA (kilovolt-ampere).The meter has a rotary switch to select the property to measure, and a three-line 10,000-count LCD with a backlight for visibility in low light that turns off automatically after two minutes. For data logging and analysis, the meter has a data recording function that allows storage of up to 1,000 measurements, comes with a wireless adapter for communicating with a PC, and includes software for downloading measurements from the meter to generate reports. The data storage rate is programmable from one reading per second to one reading every 600 seconds. The inrush current function, with a selectable sampling time of 1ms (millisecond) and 100ms, analyzes surge current at startup and due to load increases in installations that are up and running. The delta relative function allows a measurement to be set as a reference value and displays subsequent measurements as a positive or negative deviation from that value. The maximum/minimum function tracks the highest and lowest readings for a property for as long as the function is engaged. To aid documentation of readings and capture readings in tight spaces, the data hold function keeps the most recent reading on the display after disconnecting from the circuit. A continuity buzzer confirms that the circuit conducts electricity. The unit operates on four 1.5V AA batteries and turns off automatically after 10 minutes of non-use to conserve battery life. This true RMS (root mean square) sensing meter provides accurate readings when measuring linear or non-linear loads, regardless of the waveform. It is auto-ranging, so it automatically selects the appropriate operating range for the property being measured. Accuracy and resolution specifications vary according to the range being measured. The meter meets IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) safety standard 61010, and is rated for CAT (category) IV installations to 1,000V, which covers equipment at the origin of the installation, such as electricity meters and primary over-current protection equipment. It has CE (European Conformity) marking and is IP (Ingress Protection) 54 rated against dust and water spray. The unit comes with a hard carrying case.SpecificationsMaximum AC (alternating current) input2,000AMaximum DC (direct current) input3,000AMaximum AC voltage input1,000VMaximum DC voltage input1,000VMaximum frequency detected20kHzMaximum resistance detected100kΩMaximum power detected 3,000kWInstallation ratingCAT IV, 1,000VStandards metIEC safety standard 61010; CE marking; IP 54Power supply (4) 1.5V AA batteriesWeight640g/22.6oz.Dimensions (H x W x D)11.65 x 4.37 x 1.61 inches/296 x 111 x 41mmH is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.Clamp-meters, also called clamp-on meters, have two jaws that fit around a conductor to measure electrical current without cutting through wires, or touching or interrupting the electrical circuit. Available in handheld or benchtop models, clamp-meters diagnose problems in electrical equipment, wiring, and power supplies. All clamp-meters test for current. Some come with test leads and inputs for measuring voltage, capacitance, and resistance. They display information either in analog or digital form. Factors that influence meter choice include the electrical properties to be measured, the anticipated range of results, and the desired level of protection against transient voltage. Safety ratings are based on International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards for low-voltage test equipment. IEC 61010 delineates four overvoltage installation categories. In general, a meter with a category IV rating will provide more protection against transient voltages than a meter with a lower category rating.AEMC Instruments manufactures electrical testing and measurement instruments, including clamp meters, power quality analyzers, ground resistance testers, and data loggers. ## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐

Great meter, lots of features if they work.

This is a great clamp meter. It packs lots of features hard to find in any other meter, like DC ripple, THD% on AC, etc. To have all the feature that this meter has(hopefully working), you will need at least two meters. I guess that justify the price. Unfortunately, the DC current part on the one I got did not work. No mater what I did, I could not make it to measure DC current. This is a very BIG meter. Keep that in mind. The knob mark or indicator is kind of hard to see it.
